About Melissa

Melissa P. Gallagher is a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) through the NCTRC (National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification). She is also a Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP) and Certified Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia Care Trainer (CADDCT) through the NCCDP (National Council for Certified Dementia Practitioners), a Certified Home Health Aide (HHA), as well as a trained Support Group Leader and former Program Specialist for the Alzheimer's Association, Long Island Chapter. Melissa has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Therapeutic Recreation from St. Joseph’s College and over 15 years of experience working with adults and seniors in both clinical and residential settings.

Services Include
  • ​​FREE Consultation to identify issues and discuss plan for solutions.
     

  • Complete Recreation Assessment and Care Plan for your loved one including activity based intervention/tips for challenging behaviors (if needed) and appropriate, meaningful activities.
     

  • Ongoing Recreation Therapy sessions available 

     

  • Assistance in transitioning into Adult Day Program, Assisted Living or Skilled Long Term Care Facility,  
    as well as community programs such as Memory Cafe or other social events.
